Growing your Own Teachers can start in Elementary and Middle School!

The GYO grant is for all districts.  Many Missouri school districts serve students K-8 students, and there are even some K-2 charter schools!  It is never too early to inspire students to become a teacher when they grow up!  You may also have people working in your district and/or living in your community who would be great teachers!  The DESE GYO grant allows districts and charters to decide how to use the funds to meet the needs of their community with the goal of recruiting teachers to the career!  To help you as you write your plan, the MTDS Teacher Development Specialists have put together some ideas for strategies and for evaluating the effectiveness of the strategies you choose.  The TDS team are available to help with brainstorming and application assistance!
