Effective Profession Learning is Sustained in Duration
The idea of learning that is of sustained duration is discussed by Darling-Hammond, Hyler et al., (2017) as learning that:
occurs across months and years rather than days or hours.
is continuous across the entire career and aligned to teacher standards and evaluation
connects to leadership opportunities
MTDS learning is designed to be progressive with concepts intentionally built upon over the entire teaching career. The intention is for teachers to learn within networks and cohorts as they continue building capacity across the levels of MTDS. MTDS Programming is being developed and offered through Missouri's Regional Professional Development Centers. Programs developed in alignment to the MTDS framework result are long-term investments into teacher growth with learning extending across multiple days throughout a year and sequential learning offered across many years. The MTDS builds connections for teachers to teacher advocacy and leadership opportunities.
